The clock at Grand Central
Ted said to, “meet me at the clock at Grand Central”. Poetic, right? Super complex transfers and travel, right?? I imagined us hopping from cab to cab, out of breath, sweating and elbowing trench coated watch hustlers out of our way to make it on time.

I imagined us hopping from cab to cab, out of breath, sweating and elbowing trench coated watch hustlers out of our way to make it on time. (Our working knowledge of NYC is basically from Seinfeld and Elf.) None of this was necessary. One minute of tapping around Google Maps and we’ve found that there’s a train, the only train, that goes to the city from our campground: The Metro North Croton-Harmon line.
We barely made the train (this would turn out to be a theme) but were on our way for our first trip to the city! I was a sweaty mess after having to sprint (by skateboard) the mile or so back to the train station. We had dropped Mini off at the oldest kennel in the USA for four nights in the slammer, then I dropped the family off at the train station so I could park the truck in the safety of campground (first and last time we thought this necessary) instead of the train station parking lot. It was an amazing ride. We rolled south right next to the Hudson River the whole way. Big smiles and big hopes for a great day.
The NYC Roberts would be our hosts this week. We couldn’t have been luckier to have our best friends show us the city from their point of view. Here’s a summary of the week.
P.S. Huge thanks to Eddy for the Croton Point Park reccomendation AND site number. Hudson Valley is amazing.
Note: I’m going to come back and fill in all of the pics and vids of these days. We have to pack up and head to Nashua/Boston!
